The sun of the existence of Imam Sadiq (A.S.) arose from the lap of his mother Ome-Farwah on the 17th of Rabiul Awal, 83rd year Hijrah, in the city of Madina. His father Imam Mohammad Baqir (A.S.) was much happy and pleased by the birth of his son.

The sixth holy Imam, Ja’ffar Ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) was born in Madinah on 17th Rabi’ al Awwal 83 Hijrah (702 AD). He was martyred in Madinah by poisoning on 15th/25th Shawwal, 148 Hijrah (765 AD) at the age of 65. The Period of his Imamate was 34 years.

The narrators of Abu Abd Allah (al- Sadiq), peace be on him, were over four- thousand, as we have already mentioned. In his book al- Irshad, Shaykh al- Mufid, may Allah rest his soul in peace, has said: "The traditionalists have collected the names of his reliable narrators. They were four- thousand men."(569) Bin Sharashub has mentioned that b. 'Uqda has collected the names of the narrators.
