1620. THE SIGN OF SAGACITY

5626. رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : الكَيِّسُ مَن دانَ نفسَهُ وعَمِلَ لِما بَعدَ المَوتِ ، والعاجِزُ مَن أتبَعَ نفسَهُ وهواها وتَمنَّى‏ علَى اللَّهِ عَزَّوجلَّ الأمانِيَّ1

5626. The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The sagacious person is someone who subjugates himself and acts for that which comes after death.'2

5627. رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله - لمّا سُئلَ : منَ أكيَسُ المؤمنينَ - : أكثُرهُم ذِكراً لِلمَوتِ وأشَدُّهُم لَهُ استِعداداً3

5627. The Prophet (SAWA), when asked, 'Who is the most sagacious of believers?' replied, 'Those who remember death the most, and are the most prepared for it.'4

5628. رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : أكيَسُ الكَيْسِ التُّقى‏ ، وأحمَقُ الحُمقِ الفُجورُ5

5628. The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The highest level of sagacity is piety and the lowest level of stupidity is immorality.'6

5629. رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : أكيَسُ الكَيِّسِينَ مَن حاسَبَ نفسَهُ وعَمِلَ لِما بَعدَ المَوتِ ، وأحمَقُ الحَمقى‏ مَن أتبَعَ نفسَهُ هَواها وتَمَنَّى علَى اللَّهِ الأمانِيَّ7

5629. The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The most sagacious of the sagacious is he who takes account of himself and works for the Hereafter, and the stupidest of the stupid is he who allows himself to follow his desires and entertains false expectations from Allah.'8

5630. الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الكَيِّسُ مَن عَرَفَ نفسَهُ وأخلَصَ أعمالَهُ9

5630. Imam Ali (AS) said, 'The sagacious one is he who knows himself and purifies his actions.'10

5631. الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الكَيِّسُ مَن كانَ يَومُهُ خَيراً مِن أمسِهِ ، وعَقَلَ الذَّمَّ عن نفسِهِ11

5631. Imam Ali (AS) said, 'The sagacious one is he whose today is better than his yesterday, and locks away blame from himself.'12

5632. الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام - لمّا سُئلَ عن أكيَسِ النّاسِ - : مَن أبصَرَ رُشدَهُ مِن غَيِّهِ فَمالَ إلى‏ رُشدِهِ13

5632. Imam Ali (AS), when asked about the most sagacious of people, said, '[It is] he who has insight into what is [conducive to] his growth from his erring, and inclines towards his growth.'14

5633. الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : أكيَسُكُم أورَعُكُم15

5633. Imam Ali (AS) said, 'The most sagacious from among you is the most pious of you.'16
